  1. I was discussing with the author that there is a lack of federal standards as to the attire and the restraint conventions applied to female prisoners both under arrest pre-trail and in custody post-conviction.

    We concluded that it was probably best left to individual jurisdictions, judges, and marshall’s services. For instance, Miss McReese, who is post-conviction in a monthly visit with her parents, is suitably attired and shackled for security reasons. Since she will not be behind glass and can sit with her parents, and they can touch and hold her, she is wearing a transparent body suit in addition to the standard shackles and cowhide transport harness so that no contraband can enter the prison.

    This attire may not be appropriate in some jurisdictions.
